The SEW Lab’s primary mission focuses on identifying personal, social, and environmental factors that promote and protect healthy well-being. Specifically, the SEW Lab is engaged in finding activities that enhance the well-being of children, adolescents, immigrants, people with disabilities, trauma survivors, and other under-served populations.-
This is accomplished through conducting research, in which both graduate and undergraduate students from various fields of study may participate, developing research- based educational materials, and providing scholarly and leadership opportunities for students.
There are many advantages to working as a research assistant in the SEW Lab at both the graduate or undergraduate level including:
Learning about current issues related to the well-being of under-served populations
Learning how to conduct psychological research
Learning about the general research process
Learning how to think critically and how to apply those skills to real life issues
The opportunity to get to know more about the school psychology program and career opportunities in the field
The opportunity to make yourself more competitive for graduate school
The opportunity to meet others with similar interests and network
