Lab Roles

Senior lab assistants – graduate students in school psychology whose role is to: assist Dr. Dennison’s research projects by completing assigned tasks to include: gathering literature and assembling into lit reviews on various topics, collecting data from research participants, structuring activities for undergraduate lab assistants, posting to SEW lab websites 1-4 times per month (could be reposting relevant research, commenting on recent activities of the lab). Will read relevant articles assigned, attend at least one group writing day per month, and contribute to at least one publication per year to remain active.

Lab assistants– undergraduate or graduate students who have an expressed interest in pursuing professional or research career in psychology and/ or who have a strong desire to serve children from marginalized groups, and who has an above average skill in writing and/or quantitative analysis. Will attend at least one writing day per month to stay active.

Yasiry Lerma, B.A., is a graduate student in the School Psychology program at Texas State University. She is also the Senior Lab Coordinator for the SEW Lab. Additionally, she is Dr. Dennison’s graduate research assistant.  She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Texas State.  She is passionate about working with Latino populations and minority groups.

“Jacqueline Borrego, M.Ed, is a first year school psychology graduate student at Texas State University. She obtained her undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders from UT – Austin in May of 2014 and completed her masters degree in special education from UT – San Antonio in December of 2015. She is excited to work with learners of all abilities and families within an educational setting. She has a playful Boston Terrier named Otis, and lives with her husband in San Antonio, Texas.

Emma Ham, B.S., is a school psychology graduate student at Texas State University. She is a senior lab assistant in the SEW Lab. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology at Texas State University with honors. She is interested in working with adolescent populations and minority groups.

 

“Christopher Le is a first-year school psychology graduate student at Texas State University. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Sciences, with a focus on Child Development at the University of Texas at Austin. He shortly worked with children with Autism as a Registered Behavior Technician before starting his program here. He found his favorite part of child development to be the emotional-social development and was excited to join this lab. He is excited to be a part of the team and looks forward to working”

Shade’ Smith, B.A., is a School Psychology graduate student at Texas State University. She obtained her undergraduate degree at University of Texas at San Antonio in Psychology. In the last 4 years, she’s worked with at-risk youth in residential and educational settings, as well as young adults and seniors with IDD. She is also a Senior Lab Assistant in the SEW lab. She is interested in working with a younger population and minority groups.
